Loaded the new firmware on my Clip using the Sansa Updater. All seemed to go just fine, no problems to report thus far. Podcast recognition is pretty sweet and seems to actually work.

Cool, glad to hear it. I have a new Clip coming and it will probably have the old firmware. Upgrading will be the first thing I do with it.

Tired of waiting for your device to do what you need it to?

The link does not work. Where else can I go to get the firmware?

This should now be available using the Sansa Updater. You can get that here.

Nice, but I have to choose between podcast support (which gives me slow/normal/fast speed settings and the auto-bookmark) or the use of playlists. I haven't found a way to use playlists and still get the podcast features.

If I mark a file as "podcast" I can still add it to a playlist. But if I get to it via the playlist, it is treated as a regular music file (I don't get the auto-bookmark for it). If I get to the same file from the podcast menu, I get the features.

But I want to organize my podcasts in a specific order. I listen to them in the car and I don't want to have to browse the menu to go from one to the next. I want to create the playlist on my computer before I get in my car and have them play in the order of my choice without me having to do anything when I drive.

Am I missing a way to do this?

I downloaded the new firmware upgrade. It won't hold my power (sleep) settings! Every time I pause my audio book, the player shuts off. I have reset the power setting to 10 minutes repeatedly and it still won't work. Frustrating!!

I went through the update and my player works great! For me the biggest difference is the volume control. The minmum setting was much too loud but after the update I have the control I wanted. Is this all in my mind (I just missed something that was already there) or did the update really make a difference? No "you idiot" replies please. :)

Now if I can only find out how to play this thing using the usb in my car!

After doing this upgrade I found the volume was too low even on the maximum setting. This seems to be related to bpsearch's comment but in my case it's now useless! I can't hear the music at all anywhere there's any background noise (on a bus for example). Any ideas?
