To help everyone make their Sansa Experience just a little bit better we have compiled a list of FAQs (Frequently asked Questions) that may help you get things going.
If you come across a fix or something that would help others in the community please let us know and we will add it in.

Sansa e200 supported video and music formats

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa e200
The Sansa e200 player supports the following music and video formats:

Music:
1. MP3
2. WMA
3. Secure WMA
4. Unprotected AAC

Video/Images:
NOTE: You need the Sansa Media Converter to transfer photos and videos to your e200.

The Sansa Media Converter supports the following import media types:
Image files:
1. JPEG
2. TIFF
3. PNG
4. BMP
5. GIF
6. PCX
7. TGA

Video Files:
1. MPEG1
2. AVI
3. dat
4. DVR-MS
5. MOV
6. QT
7. MP4
8. asf
9. wmv
10. 3gp/3gpp2
11. DivX(ver 6.0)

Device shuts off after displaying "Sansa Express" on the display screen

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Express
Below is a list of solutions to try, if one doesn't work, try another

SOLUTION 1 - Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to turn it off, once it's off, turn the device back on.

SOLUTION 2 – If the problem was not resolved, charge the device for at least 2½ hours. The computer should not be in hibernation or sleep mode while charging.

SOLUTION 3 – Reset the device
1. Simultaneously press and hold the center and volume up button, while connecting it to the PC.
2. Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.
SOLUTION 4 - If problem is not resolved, download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater to update to the latest firmware.

Sansa Express will not power on

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Express
Things to check for and to do:

1. Check if the player has been fully charged.
2. Try to power reset the device by simultaneously pressing and holding the center and volume up button, while connecting it to the PC.
3. If power reset fails, charge the device for at least two and a half hours. The computer should not be in sleep or hibernation state while charging.
4. Make sure to update firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater.

Sansa e200 freezes while playing songs

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa e200

Below is a list of solutions, if one doesn't work, try the other.

SOLUTION 1 – Reset the device
1. Press and hold the Power button for approximately 10 seconds.
2. Release the Power button once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.
SOLUTION 2 – Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater to update to the latest firmware

SOLUTION 3 – Format the device

WARNING: Formatting will DELETE all content in the player. Please backup all your data.

NOTE: Use Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player to format your device.

Sansa Express freezes on the Welcome screen

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Express

STEP 1 – Reset the device
1. Simultaneously press and hold the center and volume up button while connecting the device to the PC.
2. Release the Power button once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.
STEP 2 – Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater to update to the latest firmware


Sansa e200/c200 player freezes on the Welcome Screen when turned on

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa e200
- Sansa c200

STEP 1 – Reset the device
1. Press and hold the Power button for approximately 10 seconds.
2. Release the Power button once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.

STEP 2 – Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater to update to the latest firmware


Sansa Clip/c200 cannot playback a song


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa c200
- Sansa Clip

Below is a list of solutions to try, if one doesn't work try another.

SOLUTION 1 – Verify if the audio file type is supported, below is a list of support files
1. MP3.
2. WAV
3. WMV
4. Secure WMA
5. Audible

SOLUTION 2 – If the file type is supported, check if the file is not corrupted and its license is up to date.
If the file type is compatible, try to load it again on your Sansa and ensure that it is not corrupted by trying to play it on your PC. Also, check to see whether the file type is a subscription file. If it is, verify that the license is up to date, and the player is authorized.

SOLUTION 3 – Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater



Sansa C200 supported music formats


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa c200

The following music formats are supported:

1. MP3.
2. WAV
3. WMV
4. Secure WMA.

Sansa Media Converter is needed to transfer photos to your c200

Sansa Clip battery will not charge


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Clip

Things to check for:

1. Check if the USB cable is properly plugged into a USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally has problems) using the original cable.
2. Check if the computer isn't entering hibernate or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be on in order to charge your player.
3. Try plugging into a different USB port (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); sometimes the front USB ports have problems charging up the device.
4. Check if the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.
5. Update your device to the latest firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater

Sansa View freezes when it is connected to the PC


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa View

Below is a list of solutions to try. If one doesn't work, try the other solutions

SOLUTION 1 – Reset the device
1. Disconnect the device from the computer.
2. Slide the Power switch up and hold it for approximately 10 seconds.
3. Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
4. Turn the device back on.
SOLUTION 2 – Disconnect and download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater

Sansa View freezes while playing songs


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa View

Below is a list of solutions to try. If one doesn't work, try the other solutions

SOLUTION 1 – Reset the device
1. Slide the Power switch up and hold it for approximately 10 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
3. Turn the device back on.
SOLUTION 2 – Download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater

SOLUTION 3 – Format the device

WARNING: Formatting will DELETE all content in the player. Please backup all your data.

1. From the Main Menu, select More > Settings/Options > System Settings > Format.
2. Select Yes to start formatting

NOTE: You can also format the player using Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player.

A "Please sync to continue listening" error message appears


Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Fuze
- Sansa View
- Sansa e200
- Sansa e200R
- Sansa Clip

This error typically occurs when the DRM licensed files have expired. This solution is Rhapsody users.

STEP 1 - Update your track licences
1. Run Rhapsody software.
2. Under Sources, right-click My Library and select Update Track Licenses.
3. The next time you plug in your device and launch Rhapsody your renewed licenses should synchronize with your device.
NOTE: If you are using different subscription service, refer to the service's user manual for instructions on how to renew the music licenses on the device.

Loading videos and photos onto the Sansa player

Applies to the following products:
- Sansa Fuze
- Sansa View
- Sansa e200
- Sansa c200


The Sansa Media Converter (SMC) software is required to convert and transfer videos and photos to your Sansa device.

STEP 1 – Download and install Sansa Media Converter

STEP 2 – Convert and transfer



1. Connect the device to the PC using a Sansa 30-pin cable.
2. Select Sansa Media Converter using Sansa Media Converter on initial connection.
3. Click Add Media to select video or photo files to be converted.

NOTE: Do not select both videos and photos to convert/transfer at the same time. Select one media type (photos or video) and complete the conversion/transfer process before selecting the second media type to convert/transfer.

4. For photos, to change the picture from landscape to portrait orientation, follow these steps:

4.a Select a photo in landscape orientation.
4.b Click Best Fit or
4.c Click Crop .
4.c.1 Drag the edges to adjust.

4.c.2 To rotate photo to the left, click Rotate Left .
4.c.3 To rotate photo to the right, click Rotate Right .
4.c.4 To view to original photo setting, click Reset .
4.c.5 Click Apply after you have completed editing.

5. The converted files are stored in My Album by default. To place them in a different folder, highlight My Album then type in the new name.
6. Click on the Sansa player or the microSD card from the information pane to select where to save the converted files to.
7. Click to start
