Hey, I was just fooling around and I found it alot easier to set the destination folder to the View itself. Also, what is the difference with the xvid versus mpeg? The View would only play the mpeg setting, so I don't know why you would convert to that setting, unless its for the your library
Great Free Sansa Media Converter

I've used this program countless times for converting video to the Sansa View. Its a bit faster than the SMC and a good alternative if you're having trouble with the SMC.
The program is called "Any Video Converter" and can be downloaded from www.any-video-converter.com make sure to select the Free One
You need to make sure you are using the correct specifications for converting the video:
Container (file extension) .Mp4
Resolution: 320x240
Frame Rate: 30FPS
Video: 384 or 512
Audio: 128/192kbps (up to you really)
Sample: 44100
See comments in the pictures below on how to make this all work.
Take the converted file once done, and drag and drop into the Video folder of the View and you're good to go.

Will these procedures work for the sansa fuze 2gb ???? Or will I have to changes the settings to something else?? Thanks for you time..

Should work fine for 2gb Fuze. You just won't be able to put too much on it.

No, the AVC will not work for the Fuze due to Metadata restrictions. The Fuze requires certain Metadata to be present with the file, and at this time the only way to do that is to use the SMC.
Also to the above question by DemonView, they are just the encoder forms that the program can use. It obviously wasnt designed for the Sansa series specifically, but offers many different conversion abilities for almost any need.

Didn't know the Fuze had Metadata restrictions.
Sounds like something that the Sansa Fuze needs to be hacked with. I wonder if anyone has looked into how to do this.
Might be time for me to look into this. :) Will get back to you.

This is like the third MPEG-4 video converter ive tried n every time my view only plays the videos audio but no video. Plz help. thnx. lol/

yea, i did everyting EXACTLY like those steps and it still only plays the ausio! It's really frustrating. I dont know if its the player or the converters. I already emailed sansa and they just gave me a link to this thread.

um... i was wondering...
the SMC sucks since sometimes it converts, but the finishing product ends up with either no image or no sound... sometimes it crashes...
i got a sansa e280v2 i need to know the sizes and stuff for the video's formate that i have to convert in to... thx!

sanman, did you get yours to work. When I did it the video was garbled and so was the audio. Would like to know if i am doing it wrong or is it the video i am using. It was a download from library.

I went through the conversion steps above, but when I try to copy and paste the video file onto the sansa itself, I get an error message saying that it only accepts audio files. How do I copy and paste a video file onto my sansa e250?

Couldn't you set the video bitrate to 2048 and the audio bitrate to 256 if you wanted to and it would still be playable?

Sorry things aren't working for you guys BUT also glaed to see I am not the only one fighting to get videos to work. Any suggestions other than those posted to get it to work would be greatly appreciated.

I DONT KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT FILES AND EVERYTHING BUT I FOLLOWED ALL OF THE ABOVE STEPS BUT WHEN I TRY TO PUT IT ON MY SANSA 280 IT SAY THAT THE VIDEO FILE WILL ONLY BE THERE FOR STORAGE I WONT BE ABLE TO USE IT. I TRIED 5 DIFFERENT CONVERTERS AND SMC WONT LET ME CONVERT THE FILES IT SAYS I NEED TO INSTALL SOME CODES OR SOMTHIN

obviously it won't work if your divx encoder installed on the pic is not DivX 5!!! and still there are chances it wont work..
also, the size should be 244x176 and FPS should be 20!

I downloaded the converter and followed all the instructions but for some reason it only converts 3 minutes of the movie and then it's complete...why won't it convert the whole movie?
