SanDisk made some jaws drop this morning on the CES showroom floor, a few hours ahead of the company's scheduled press conference:

MicroSDHC cards with 12 GB of storage are on the way!

The cards are tiny, and they have more storage space than an iPod nano. Unfortunatley, if you are frothing at the mouth for this , its a technology release, not a product releas, meaning SanDisk has announced the availability of the 12 GB card to its handset manufacturing partners, and thus there is no specific pricing or time table for market release yet.

But the 12 GB microSDHC card will be compatible with the same applications that the previous 8 GB microSDHC cards from SanDisk were.
