There is an easier way to do! In the latest version of firmware, go to 'More - Settings - System - USB' and select MSC mode.
How to: Put your Sansa View in MSC mode
These modes could be selected from the menu.
- With your View powered off, plug in the "SanDisk" end of the cable, but not the USB end.
- Turn on your View.
- Slide the switch to "hold" - you should see the "lock" icon.
- While watching the screen, press the left side of the scroll wheel and hold it down until you see the icon go off and back on. You should be in MSC mode now.
- Plug the USB cable into your computer and Windows should do its finding new drives thing.

So...glad you guys, are out there. I got a 4gb for my birthday from my daughter and was like a fish out of water. Thanks!
I have Windows XP Home Edition and I tried to do like you said, but I get errors when I try to copy some music from my PC, is something about Exe Files that can't be transferred, but I don't have any exe files in that folder. I will download the firmware and I will install it, hope that will solve the problems, I really don't want to change the OS just for that error.
I wish I could understand what you are saying. I cannot find "more" settings" system-select USB so I can select MSC mode. Can't make heads or tails out of what you are saying. Help!
Igor
I cannot make heads or tails out of your"go to 'More - Settings - System - USB' and select MSC mode. Nowhere that I went did I see any of those words, prompts, whatever. I bought my little Sandisk in March so it's pretty up to date, no?
Help somebody. I have all itunes songs and would like to figure out a way to play them on my nice and tiny Sundisk.
