What OS are you using on ur computer?
I received a new e250 for Christmas but there was no installation cd in the box. There wasn't even a user guide. I had to go to the sandisk website to download the user guide. Whenever I plug the player in using the usb cable, it comes up as "Found New Hardware--MTP device." I click on install using the recommended version and it goes through the process but at the end it says the message, "Problem installing the hardware-- this device cannot start (code 10)." Has anyone experienced this problem? I have Windows Media Player version 11 and I also tried going to Microsoft to download the mtp port kit and that didn't work either. My husband also downloaded the Sansa Media Converter thinking that might help but it didn't. Isn't there some way to install the player without the actual installation cd? Please help!!

I just received a Sansa E250 and it didn't have instructions to download. Do I use LimeWire or Windows Media?
I would recommend you first start her with the user guide.

Then you need to actually have some music (MP3 files) to put on your Sansa.
There are tons of ways to get them.
I would recommend you read this and decide the best way for you.

I also am having a similar problem but no one has suggested a resolution for the problem. This is exactly what I'm experiencing as well: Whenever I plug the player in using the usb cable, it comes up as

The CD's and such were discontinued due to the company's wanting to take a more environmentally friendly approach. All programs and instructions can be found here, or at www.sandisk.com/support/sansa
Try switching your player into MSC mode (Settings -->Mode/USB Mode)
Then plug it in and see if it shows
