I recieved a Sansa View 8G for Christmas and would appreciate some info on how to add audiobooks to my media player. Is there any way to add audiobooks in mp3 format to your audiobook list and not have it show up in my music list?

 Thanks,

 Firk

If you right click an individual audio file, click Properties, and choose the Summary tab, you will see a values list of your audio file. If Sansa uses the information anything like Apple does, the Genre property determines where the files are organized in the player. Commercial audio books are all over the map as to genre. If you have a file that did end up where you want it, determine its genre value and make this change to the other audiobook files. There are programs that will fetch this information from the web and insert it, but I have found them to be inconsistent for audiobook files.

Regrets if this is ground you have already covered.

I am sorry but I do not understand; this sansa should be simpler, on the order of drag and drop. The software my library requires (overdrive) can't work on my sansa UNLESS I install something other software and all this is getting too much---------all I want is drag and drop, why is that so hard?
And the sansa quit on a music file transfer, wouldn't go past 20 min of album. Do not like all these problems.
Sincerely,
older person

I have found emusic to be an excellent source for audio books downloads. I know it is off topic but if you are ever wanting to find any good audio books downloads I would highly suggest following my link. :) If not then good luck with you mp3.

Audio books
I just bought the Sansa clip 8GB. I want to listen to audiobooks. Is it possible to copy an audiobook from a CD to the Sansa? I thought I read that I could but I can't figure out how to do it.
Thanks.

Yes. Copy the cd to your pc, then write a batch file (or do it piece meel) to change the file extension name for each file.
Example (in your note pad)
rename c:/books *mp3 to *.aa

Save the file as rename.bat and double click on it from wherever you have it stored on your file menu. All of the mp3 files will not just be renamed. but will behave like audiobooks when you transfer them to your sansa (You wouldnt believe how long it toook me to 'get this'. If you have any probs or questions, email me at Jackie@theinquiringeye.com. I am not affiliated in any was with the sansa corporation. Best Wishes, Jackie

There is also a program called 'Bulk Rename' that would do that for you but the batch file deal works great to. I love Bulk rename for my pics but you do need to understand how things work before getting into it.

Not everyone these days knows what a batch file is but once learned they are pretty powerful.

is a long forum discussion of trying to get audiobooks to work on the sansa view. The sansa fuze and the clip are great for audiobooks. They have a seperate file. But the view seems to have taken the evil path. The audiobooks file only works for books bought from a specific web site. In other words, sansas sucks. I'm about to return it and buy an ipod. I loved my fuze until it died and this

Umm ... renaming .mp3 to .aa not only does not work to make the Clip+ play the files as an Audiobook, it totally borks the Clip+ - mine is now locked. Thanks for nothing ...

Batch file processing works great. I love my batch rename images, but you need to know how to work before, it's more and more.
