Bought my first memory card for my 2GB SanDisk.  Do I have to format the card?  Neither the SanDisk nor my XP PC will recognize the additional memory.

Yes, I checked the remaining capacity of the SanDisk when it was not connected to the PC.  Yes, I put the card in correctly.  There's no other way to put it in.

Do I have to format the card or tell the SanDisk something?  Help!

Are you in MSC mode?

you MUST be in MSC mode for your computer to recognize the the little card slot in your player

Also, who makes the card? There's a compatibility issue with Lexar/Kingston cards.. if its a SanDisk card, you should be fine, like they said, just switch to MSC mode

I have a e250 and recently bought a micro sd card from kingston to go in it to add 2gb. I checked on my unit and I don't have an "MSC" mode only Rhapsody and Play for Sure. Am I crazy or how do you get this thing to work?

Ah, in that case, place it into PlaysForSure mode. Also, kingston cards have been notorious with compatibility issues with SanDisk devices. Try in PFS mode anyway, connect to your computer and see if it shows. Also make sure your firmware is up to date, as this issue may have been fixed in a firmware upgrade.. i can't recall right now as i don't have my list of firmware revision updates in front of me
