I would call Sandisk Sansa support. I had a similar problem and they fixed fairly easily and quickly.

My daugher brought her e140 to me and informed me that it will not play anymore. When you turn it on it asks for a language. After selecting the language it states that we need to connect it to a PC and remove 4M of music...then shuts off.
When I connect it to the computer I get an I/O message. I am running Vista Business edition. Any suggestions?
