I had the same problem and believe it or not mine was about 6 months old. I contacted sansa at www.sandisk.com. Your going to have to open an ebox to start the communication process. They were very helpful and quick to respond. To make along story short they ended up replacing mine completely free of charge. If this is the case prepare to lose your downloaded tunes if you have no backup. Good luck
Ok, so I have had my sansa e260 series for about half a year now, I got it for my birthday in July. Recently my sansa has been freezing up and would stay froze until I hooked it up to the computer. After I hooked it up to the computer it would unfreeze and I would be able to use it again but a couple of days ago it froze for good. Every time I turn it on it freezes at the start up screen and stays frozen until the battery runs out. I have tried hooking it up to the computer but it won't unfreeze. Has my battery gone bad? If so is it going to cost me to get a new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. over the years sansa has been good to me and i would really hate to get an ipod because of this incident.
