I have run into the same issue.
At first I thought it was a limitation of the software I was using to transfer the music files to the player (Media Monkey).
My solution....
Create a 'master' playlist with all of your songs.
Then create 'sub' playlists with a max of 250 songs.
So:
playlist-master
playlist-1
playlist-2
etc, etc...
If anyone else has a better solution, I'm all ears.
I'm trying to set up a playlist on my e-280 with most (not all) of my tracks in it for continuous shuffle play. However, only the first 250 of the about 650 songs are recognized. Is there any way around this without doing a "play all"? I don't want to include my classical or podcasts in this list.
That's basically what I ended up doing. I used Media Monkey (great app, by the way!) to set up random selection playlists based on my preferred genres, and limited them to 250 songs. Then, I set the Sansa to "shuffle", and then reload the random playlists every few days to keep things fresh.
Funny thing - I grew up with record changers (anybody else that old?) that could play 5 or 6 album sides of 6 songs or so, and here I am with a device the size of two packs of chewing gum that can hold over 2,000 songs, and I'm complaining that I can only queue up 250 at a time! Ain't progress something?
