I don't have a M250, and have only talked to the support guys a few times. But when I did they always seemed pretty good.
I don't know why the screen shows the wrong info. Sorry.
Sandisk sent me a replacement for my Sansa m250 because the volume button had broken - great! Not so great - the new player won't download any album or artist info. The downloaded song will play, but the screen lists all that info as unknown so I can't sort my music or anything.
I spent a frustrating 25 minutes on the phone the other night with live customer service (he was AWFUL!) and at the end he said he would email me instructions on how to update the firmware, but I've never gotten those instructions. So I checked the website and couldn't find a fimware update for the m-series. Next I emailed customer service for the instructions and they haven't sent them to me, either. Needless to say I am very disappointed.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions?
Quick info:
-I'm running Windows XP
-Songs play, but do not show info
-I have made sure the mp3 player was in the proper mode for downloading
-I'm running Windows Media Player 10 with current updates
-I have made sure the music is in .wmp or other compatible format on my PC
-I checked to make sure all the artist and album info was present in Media Player and it is.
I would love to hear some suggestions, guys! I love my mp3 player and I'm missing it bad!
Thanks,
:) Jennifer

Thanks for responding. Usually I find the tech people there really helpful, and I was tickled when they replaced my busted player for free. I'm a loyal Sansa consumer, but this guy I got this week was just a pain in the neck. I called support back and this time they sent the directions for updating the firmware. I haven't had a chance yet to try it, but if that solves my problem I'll post the directions here in case anyone else needs them.
Have a good weekend!

Good news! Updating the firmware fixed the problem - now the song title, album title and artist all show up on the screen where they belong. I've pasted the directions below in case anyone else runs into this problem... Jen
*To update the firmware of the Sansa, we need to first download and install the Sansa Firmware Updater. Simply click on the link below to take you to the firmware updater, download it and install to your computer.
Firmware Updater
Or you could copy and paste the link below on your browser:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
Now, after installing the updater, let's plug in the Sansa to the computer on MSC mode. To switch to MSC mode tap your menu button and select "Settings" then look for "USB mode". You should see "Auto Detect" (for MTP) and "MSC", select "MSC".
Beside the system clock on the bottom right of the screen, you will see a red icon called "Sansa Updater", let's click that icon and select "Check for update now". The firmware updater will check and install updated firmware to your Sansa. After the update, unplug the Sansa then turn the player on.*
