You may want to start from scratch and reformat the view and then sync.

I'm an ex Real Player user and loved the song/artist data that was added to a clip. I now use WMA to manage my Sansa View files. One thing I miss from RP (besides the free usage w/o monthly charges i.e., Rapsody) is the I guess you call it metadata? I understand this kind of info can be added using WMA. How?
Second, even after reading WMA's explaination of sync I'm confused. My confusion is how do I avoid having additional copies of a song left on my View? Seems when I sync I'll have a song 2x on the View. I want to be able to "sync" that is add new music from either my PC or new music on my View to the files that exist on MWA and the player with out any duplication. How do I accomplish that?
Make sure the firmware is updated on the View first.
Then, as long as the data is the same WMP will detect if the song is already on there.
I.e if you have:
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake - Laid to rest
Lamb of God - Ashes of Wake - Laid to rest
It will see this as two different songs since the data isn't exact and will re add it.
As brandon said you may want to format and start over, and ensure that all your songs have the correct ID3 info on them.
In WMP you can edit ID3 information (Artist, album, song, genre, year etc)
Metadata is very different from ID3 info. And to my knowledge WMP doesn't let you edit it... or Rhap for that matter. Though i did find a way to edit the meta data outside of the program and make my player a lyrics box lol
