I would ASSUME it's the battery, that is, if it didn't happen BEFORE you bought the new battery. Did you keep the packaging of the battery in case you may have to exchange it? If not, I would just toss it(which would be a waste unless you can exchange it)and buy a new one to see if it happens again. And if THAT'S not the case, then that would be where Apix or Brandon would come in where it could be the player itself. Good luck donn and let us know how everything goes, kay?
My e280 won't hold a charge. I bought a new battery of course,
but it still won't keep charged. It's like it is constanting draining
the battery even when turned off. If I fully charge it, the next
day (turned off) will show it about 25% charged. I can listen to
it for about an hour before it runs out of power.
Has anyone else experienced this? Should I toss it out?
No, it happened with the old battery, that's why I bought the
new battery. I suppose it's possible to have 2 bad batteries,
but not very probable.
Where did you get the new battery? Maybe it was one that sat on a shelf for some time? I would check with the place you got it from.
The probability of having two bad batteries is pretty slim. What firmware revision is currently loaded on your E200? There was a battery inaccuracy with firmware before 15A.
I downloaded the Sansa Updater software and installed the newest firmware, and it does indeed, work like a charm now. I charged it up, played it for about an hour and a half, and it says I still have 14 hours left. Thanks for the input guys, but I'm at a loss to understand what happened. I've had the e280 for over a year, and never had a problem with the old firmware until now. I'll have to put the old battery back in and see if it charges up, but I'm not going to mess around right now.
The problem with firmware glitches are, that while some can be reproduced, and have a negative effect right away, some issues arise over time or not at all. Almost like a hybrid virus would react (don't worry that's not what it is lol just an example). But i've seen where the issue thats a known firmware problem, will effect random players that are all the same. (As i've tested multiple players with the exact content, firmware and batch and not all have the same problem).
Firmware is indeed a strange beast at times, but good to hear all is well now :)
