I accidentally loaded all of my songs to my E280 in MTP mode, and I wanted to reload them in MSC mode. I took off about 90 out of almost 700 songs and reloaded them in MSC mode, which worked. But when I plugged the player back in on MTP mode, there's nothing in the MUSIC folder when I click on it. Now only the preloaded songs plus the 90 I put on are on the player, but the player still says I have the same amount of space being used (about 4 GB of music). Why can't I see the files that were put on in MTP? Have I lost them or is there a way to get them back? I have the "show hidden files" option checked, so I really don't know what the problem is.

edit: It looks like all the files are in the SYSTEM/MTPCONTENT folder when I'm in MSC mode, but they're all .DAT files that I have no idea what to do with. Any solutions?

Thanks.

Its possible that there's an issue with the database not refreshing on the player. What you'll need to do is delete one of the files in the System folder. Normally the system folder is hidden so you'll need to enable hidden files and folders. If you haven't already done so or don't know how, here's how to do this:
Explore the player through My Computer,
Go to Tools
Select Folder Options then select the View tab
Now scroll until you see Show hidden files and folders and click the radio button next to it.
Click apply and then click ok

Now again open the system folder, but here's where I'm going to need you to stop. I can't remember the name of the system file that you need to delete in order to refresh the whole DB structure.
If you'd be so kind as to tell me what the names of the files that you see in the System Folder, I'll let you know which one to delete. It has to be the right file, or you'll wipe the database clean.. as in format and we don't want that :)

Ok just do this if YOU WANT YOUR MTP DEVICE TO BE RECOGNISE BY WINDOWS XP SP2 OR SP1:
1. iNstall "Mtp Portal Kit" http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=other&file=MTP_Porting_Kit_By_Dean.rar
2. plug the device, select START\CONTROL PANEL\SYSTEM\HARDWARE\DEVICE MANAGER
2. than click on the MTP device that is showen with a sign like this "!"
3. click reinstall\yes,this time only\install from specific location\ select "include the location in the search" \Browse\C:\WMSDK\MTPPK12\Responder\NetChip_PCI_2280_Drivers!!!
!. IT WILL WORK 100%

FOR MY CREATIVE ZEN TOUCH WORKED...so i think it will work for other mtp devices also
