Try unscrewing the 4 screws on the back and removing the battery. Once the battery is removed, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the battery back in and try to power it on

My 1GB Clip does the same thing, except no screws to take out and I don't want to mess up or break the case blindly trying to get it open. Suggestions?

fastEddie,

Is it still under warranty? Maybe calling support would help.

Tired of waiting for your device to do what you need it to?

I have the same problem.  The only time the unit operates now is when it's plugged in.  I suspect it's a battery problem because everything else works fine when connected.  Is there any source of information on how to crack the case?   Any photos, Utube, etc. ???  It can't be that difficult to replace .... ... Certainly someone that frequents this 'community' has some knowledge to shed.

I ended up popping mine open (there is a photo tutorial somewhere out there - basically just carefully pry open at certain spots) and found the red wire from the battery disconnected. Some careful soldering later it works again - just be careful with the soldering heat around the battery and other components.
