If the player is within warranty, SanDisk will replace it without a problem.
If it is no longer under warranty, then you can use the following steps:
NOTE: if under warranty, going any farther than removing the casing screws WILL VOID your warranty.
When the 4 screws that hold the back plate have been removed, there will be 4 more screws holding the circuit board on (they're very tiny). Remove these
Now with the board screws removed, the circuit board will be held in place by clips by the LCD screen, and the headphone/data port section will be seated slightly through the plastic form. Simply pull up (GENTLY :) ) and disengage the board by the LCD screen, then it should slide away from the bottom.
As far as schemies go, SanDisk guards the technical blue prints quite closely. You may be able to find someone's personal schems online tho
I am looking for technical repair manuals, or assembly drawings for a sansa e260. The problem I am trying to fix is a bad connection in the headphone jack (one channel cuts in and out depending on how you hold the chord). After trying many different ear phones, I decided the best way to go about this was to open it up, (yes, the entire device to and get to the jack) and bend the contact out to make better connection. The trouble is that I got the battery cover off, removed 4 more screws, and couldn't figure out how to get any further for fear of breaking it. Any Ideas?
