My usb slot is broken, so I can't charge my player, or plug it into the computer to put new music on it. Once the battery had died it will be virtually useless.

Is there any way I could get this fixed or do I need a whole new player?

Not sure what you mean by broken but you may try calling Sansa support and see if they can help.

when I say broken I mean, not there anymore. it is straight up gone. broken off.
