Does it work with something else plugged in? It should be putting out the same power as your computer does.

Tired of waiting for your device to do what you need it to?

I built my own charger for the boys players..
I actually built one for the car 12v and one for 110v..

I stripped two usb connectors off of a blown motherboard..
According to google research and a wiki on usb a device will recognize the cable as a charger if the data+ and data- are shorted together..
I found an old +5v cellphone charger..(lots laying around these days)
I soldered the +5v to the appropriate pin on the USB motherboard connector and the same with the ground or common.
I also added a RED LED and 470 ohm resistor across the +5V and liberally applied
my favorite (( HOT GlUE)).
Same procedure for the +12V adaptor.

Warning: you have to make sure that the chargers put out only +5V and make sure to lookup the pinout of the USB connector for appropriate wiring..

The data+ and data- short was the neat thing as this is how most cellphones etc can tell its a charger they are plugged into..

For European customers, I'd recommend Ansmann USB 2 go charger (BTW, it can also charge IPods), with retail price USD10-12.
