Because when you convert it to a MP4 format the video will be much smaller. I use this feature all of the time. I have doubled the capacity of my view with a micro SD card so that I can hold even more video. I can watch 3 full legth feature films per charge.
I just bought my son the Sansa Viewer because I read the reviews on Walmart.com and saw on there you can download 12 - 2 hr. movies. Well, I didn't realize that movies are around 4-8 GB's. How is this possible?

when you convert your dvd movies to mp4 with proper settings you can get movies like avatar to be around 1GB. Try the DVDvideosoft studio, has a moduke for converting your DVD to mp4.
