This might sound basic, but did you turn the volume up on the Clip or E250 themselves when connected to the car stereo? You will need to turn it up to 75% volume or higher, usually, and then turn the volume up on the car stereo as well in order to be able to hear it. My Clip works fine in my car, so I know it's possible (anything with a headphone jack and an audio output *should* work in a car stereo with an aux input.)
If that doesn't work, try swapping out the cable for a new one... could be the cable itself.
And I agree about using FM transmitters... I haven't found one that I liked in years of using my MP3 player in the car.
I have a Sansa E250, and myhusband has a Clip. We have tried to use them in several rental cars while on holiday, but all we get is what sounds like tinny background music. Our cars don't have aux ports so we can't experiment. We would love to use our Sansas when travelling but can't figure out what we're doing wrong.
We use a cable to connect to aux. Have tried the FM tuner but they don't work well in congested areas.
Thanks
Peter
We turned the volume all the way up on car and Sansa(s). Sometimes we'd get a very thin, tinny vocal but most of the time we'd get what sounded like thin, tinny music and no vocals.
We'll try a new cable. Thanks
Robin
