Background on how I use my Sansa Fuze 4GB:

I have copied a lot of my music CD's to my PC. I use Windows XP. I then used Windows Explorer and the Drag & Drop method to copy my albums/cd's from my PC to the Sansa Fuze. I do not want to use the Windows Media player to "Sync" anything ... I want to control what goes on the Fuze and what does not.

My 2 questions:

1) I have a Tony Bennett Albumn/CD (copied on my Fuze) where he sang Duets with a bunch of different Artists ... about 12 songs. When I scroll thru the Fuze Artist list, I will see the Tony Bennett with his whole Albumn (1/ 12 songs), but then I will also have a listing under "Artist" for Diana Krall showing 1/1 songs. Then it will list another Artist that sang a different song (1/1 songs) w/ Tony Bennett. How do I delete the other individual Artisit's names off the Fuze?

2) Is there a way I can create a Folder on my PC and give it a Name (ie "My List") I want it to have, then put a bunch of different songs from different artist's in that folder, changing the name of the songs to be typed the way I want them to be. For example instead of Led Zeppelin's "Stair way to Heaven", I might want the name to be "Strway Hvn".  Then copy (drag & drop) them to my Music folder on the Fuze. Then when I look thru the Artist menu on the Fuze, I would see "My List", and when I scroll thru the songs, I would see "Strway Hvn"?

I know I am asking a lot. It just seems you should be able to use th Fuze like a mini Hard Drive, and put a Folder of Songs in there name the way you want them to be named

Thanks for anybody who took the time to read all this ... RH

I think the answer to all your woes here is to use an ID3 tagging program to modify the tags on all of your songs. You can change artist, album, song titles, everything so the Fuze (or any other MP3 player) will display what you want.

I have the same issue with my iPod... let's say I have a compilation, for example, with 15 different artists but only one song each. It's annoying when all of those artists pop up in my artist list. So I re-tag all the artists to "Various Artists."

Do a Google search for "Windows ID3 tag editor" or something similar and you should find something. You can also use a music program to re-tag files.

Peter:

Thanks! This sounds exactly like what I need. I haven't had a chance to try it, but I will. Thanks again ... RH
