I bought a refurbished 2Gb Clip. When the storage gets over say 2/3 full, any additional sound files I add tend to get crosslinked to files already on the player. IE, the new file plays about halfway through, then it jumps to the middle of another file (the title scroll changes to show the second file playing. It will do this if I delete and overwrite the crosslinked file, even if I change the file name before I copy it back to the player. The only fix seems to be to format the Clip. I play a mix of MP3 and OGG podcasts. My firmware is v01.01.30a, might flashing to the current version make the problem go away? Bought the Clip to use it as a recorder, so Rockbox is not an option (will mentioning alternate firmwares get me flamed here? :). When I got the player, it still had the previous owner's music on it and I couldn't copy anything to the device until I formatted it from the Clip's menu. It appears the only thing they did to refurbish it was to shrinkwrap it and send it out again. Also, it has to be recharged every couple days even if I don't use it. Is this normal for a new Clip or do I have battery issues?
