Hey guys,

Happy New Year!!  It's been a while, I know, but I'm in a bit of a pickle here.

My Sansa Fuze's battery is really getting on my last nerve.

I would charge it for a good couple of hours (at least) and it would be fine, that is, after adding some more songs from my library.  Then I would shut it off and leave it for the night only to have the battery totally depleted when I turn it on the next morning.  I don't get it.  Doesn't that totally defeat the whole purpose of having charged it in the first place???  I even upgraded the firmware in my player as I've been told to do, and STILL no luck!  What a total waste of my time this is!

Can anyone (hopefully my Apix...; )) pleeeease help me out with this before I have a nervous breakdown??

Thanks in advance...

i assume ur warrenty has expired?! if not just send it and get a new one insted...

Hi dudiadudial,
Well as of now it seems to be working fine. Only problem is now that when I sometimes go to turn it on, it won't come on right away and I have to keep fooling with it to do so--aggravating!

My Sansa Fuze is about 2 years old now which would mean that my warranty has expired, so I'm screwed there. It's just so damned temperamental! I'm just gonna have to wait & see what transpires I guess--not that I have a choice.

Thanks for your help anyway...Till my next fiasco. :(

This fixed my Fuze with similar issues.

My 1st Gen. Fuze was is dire straits, I was afraid It was trashed. No battery life as you described.

I discovered my Fuze "woke itself up" when off and then went into endless "reboot cycles" until the battery was dead all the time. It got so bad that it began the rebooting cycles during playback, would not start with the on switch, and other funky actions.

I got my Fuze fixed with a chkdisk /f (fix errors.) Found many disk block errors that had begun to interfere with functionality.

IO Bit has a freeware program I recommend called Total System Care. This contains a module called "Disk Doctor" a few clicks and the problem Fuze was fixed!

Afterward, update your Fuze to the latest available firmware from Sanza.

My Fuze has been acting very normal since this fix!

Good luck with your Fuze!

OBTW:

Although it is said you can just unplug the USB cable on your Sanza products, I believe this likely caused the problems.

To avoid problems in the future, always use the windows "eject disk/usb device" before yanking your players cable.

Clipper J, I downloaded the IO Bit program. However, the Fuze doesn't show up on the drive list. No surprise, I suppose - it's not showing up under My Computer! Any thoughts on this? Very disheartening. I've only had the Fuze about a year and the battery seems shot. At this point it shows all white! Thanks.

Sansa tech help emailed me and solved the problem. [It took a couple of emails; they asked some questions first.]
STEP 1: Reset the player by following the instructions on the link below:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/188
If the player did not turn on after resetting it, please refer to Step 2.
STEP 2: Connect the player in Force MSC mode by following the instructions on this link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61
If the player shows "Connected" and the battery logo is blinking on the screen, please leave the player for 2 to 3 hours to fully charge it.

Try charging it when it is completely dead or if the problem continues contact the manufacturers and tell them you need another battery blackmail them or something. Like on the website it told me that i was getting a good mp3 player with 24 hours life and i only have 3-4 battery hours of life.
