It started out life as my mp3 player, and it ran beautifully.  Husband inherited it when I got a phone that had a music player on it.  He put rockbox software on it - he thought it would handle the memory differently.  My youngest son (15) then used it for awhile and put some songs on there that weren't compatible.  He would get "bad track" messages when trying to play something.  Between the bad tracks and rockbox, it froze up.  I reformatted it to wipe it clean and to try to get rid of rockbox.  I then brought it up in recovery mode, and based on a previous post on this forum, I was able to reflash the firmware. I took the battery out and reseated it.  It boots up now, but it's painfully slow.  The Sansa start-up screen stays on the display for a LONG time.  It appears to be accessing everything the way it should - it looks like the original firmware has been restored.  It's just very, very slow which is what my youngest son was experiencing along with the bad track messages.  I also find that when I plug it into the computer, the computer will tell me "USB device not recognized" or it will say it's defective and to replace the device.  Is there any help for this poor baby? It was a great player, and my oldest son uses the same model but has not altered anything on it, and it's been running well for over 3 years now.  Thanks.
