I would not recommend doing this! I formatted a Sansa e250 and permanently bricked it. I tried every trick in the book to resurrect it, but nothing worked. I would use the format/reset options in the UI of the Clip to erase the contents safely. Also, you do not have to reformat the Clip to install new firmware, so there is really no need to completely format the device.

Hi!
I wanna know am I safe to format my Sansa Clip Plus 2GB model from Windows?
(right click on device - format - start :D)
That will of course delete everything, but will the firmware "survive"?
If not, I can install it later without having any trouble?
Basically, my question is will I be able to use normally my Clip after formating (and installing new firmware, if necessary)? Formating will not delete any important system files, that are needed for firmware, or something?
