Image Galleries and Other Exciting Updates

Attention community members - we've made some great improvements to our site that we'd like to let you know about! Member Updates First, you can now see other member's birthdays in their profiles and in the members section; wish your friends a "Happy Birthday!" (Your year of birth will not be shown.) Groups Updates Second, take a look at the Groups section. We've now added the ability for anyone to add a download to a group. Feel free to contribute your download by using the "Submit a Download" link in the group. Image Galleries Last, but definitely not least - we've added Image Galleries! This exciting new feature will allow you to create a customized image gallery for your forum thread, article, download, group discussion, or blog entry. You'll be able to add and remove photos, reorder your photos, have custom captions, and batch upload photos from your computer to the gallery to save time and effort. You'll need Flash on your computer to use the gallery feature. Remember that if you upload a photo or photos directly to the gallery, you'll also need to upload it in the article to use it there. However, if you upload an image...

Sandisk confirms the Sansa Fuze

Earlier this week, rumors started trickling in about a new Sansa media player from Sandisk. In fact, it wasn’t long before Amazon confirmed these early reports of a new media player, posting for pre-order sales. Well, today, Sandisk made it official, releasing the Fuze, an extremely attractive mid-range media player, which should fill the void between the high end View and the ultra-portable Clip. The most attractive feature of the Fuze is the player itself, which comes in a veritable rainbow of new colors. Not only that, but it is among the most affordable media players, with all of the models coming in under $130. Like the View, the Fuze will play music, video, photos, FM radio and audiobooks. Other features include: a microSD card slot; a voice recorder; and a 1.9 inch color screen. The Sansa Fuze will also allow users to access a myriad of subscription download services from numerous sources, including: Rhapsody To Go, Napster, eMusic and others. In addition, it supports playback of a wide range of popular music formats such as MP3, WAV, Audible (for audio books) and Windows Media Audio (WMA) in both unprotected and protected files. It also plays MPEG-4 video and JPEG...

SanDisk Sansa Fuze Photos leaked?

Back in January I posted a blog here, that SanDisk filed for a trademark for the name Sansa Fuze . Now, we find that accessory maker HandStands leaked a photo of the new Fuze on thier ad promoting their new 3 in 1 accessory kit. The photos are from an ad they posted, but now they have taken it down. The player pictured in the ad looks like competition for a 3G iPod nano, and will likely include 8-16GB of memory as well as video and radio playback. When we know for sure, you will too. Here are copies of their ad photos. Not much we can tell by their photos, but I have a feeling they are pretty accurate, since they have now taken them down off thier website.

How to: Put your Sansa View in MSC mode

Older SanDisk players had two modes: MSC (mass storage class) and MTP (media transfer protocol). These modes could be selected from the menu. The View apparently assumes you only ever want to use MTP mode. This is fine, unless you have Windows home edition. But there is a way to use MSC mode on the Sansa View. Here's how. With your View powered off, plug in the "SanDisk" end of the cable, but not the USB end. Turn on your View. Slide the switch to "hold" - you should see the "lock" icon. While watching the screen, press the left side of the scroll wheel and hold it down until you see the icon go off and back on. You should be in MSC mode now. Plug the USB cable into your computer and Windows should do its finding new drives thing. In MSC mode you can Drag-n-drop files into the MUSIC folder directly using Windows Explorer. When you are done, be sure to "Safely Remove Hardware", just like any other USB drive. This is a quick and easy way to put your View into MSC mode, if you are having problems. Just remember, if you turn off the unit,...
