What Happens When You Drop a Sansa Express in Water?

I know you're dying to know. I wish I didn't know, but it's a tale as old as time. Who hasn't dropped a cellphone/mp3 player/other electronic device into a toilet/puddle/bathtub/washer/sink/etc.... My sister dropped my not-so-beloved iPod into her bubble bath (so much for a relaxing soak). Of course, I forgave her, but I gave it to a guy I work with, who happens to fix and sell iPods, and he said that although the screen went black after the submersion, all it needed was a good charge and it was like nothing happened. I have also heard similar stories of Creative Lab and SanDisk products working just peachy after an unintentional bath. But what happened to my Sansa, is a different story. Like my sister before me, I was trying to take one of those relaxing baths you hear all about, and it was great (in case you were curious) up until *plunk* went my Sansa. I pulled that sucker out in less than three seconds, I swear; there was no way that thing was under water for more than five. It gurgled a few notes, then died. I rushed to towel-dry it and then used a blow dryer to...

Sansa Vs. Ipod

Right now, the word "iPod" has become synonymous with "mp3 player". Maybe because Macintosh revolutionized the world of portable music files, maybe because Apple products are the preferred and more recognizable brand name, or maybe it's just because the bi-syllabic moniker rolls off the tongue pretty easily. But let me tell you right now, it is NOT because the Ipod is the superior product on the market. I had an iPod for about two years. For a PC user, it was not easy. I had to download the software that accompanied the product, and when I got a computer of my own, my files were not transferred from my parents' PC downstairs to mine in my room. It wasn't as easy as plugging in my Ipod and voila there was my music; I had to re-install the software, and then I kept getting this message that my Ipod was connected to another computer. Duh. And getting my music files into iTunes was no picnic, either. I had to convert the files to an iTunes file, which is not just an mp3, no siree. So, after a lengthy search, I decided to get an inexpensive and easy-to-use Sansa Express. The Sansa...

SanDisk Express Line flash memory

SanDisk recently launched the "SanDisk Express Line" of high-performance flash memory products, based on the ExpressCard technology standard, designed for pro camcorders, and targeting professional photographers and videographers. The SanDisk ExpressCard is expected to be available in November, in 8- and 16GB capacities. Recording time for high-definition video capture, at 35 megabits per second, would be approximately 30 minutes on the 8GB card and 60 minutes on the 16GB card.
The Sansa Express

The Sansa Express is a promising product in terms of design, mobility, and usage. However, it has a little work to be done on its firmware capacities. More can be done by either two ways: pressuring the Sansa's Technical team to improve upon it, or porting Rockbox onto it. The latter seems like a good way to go.
