Thanks!

Due to the time I've spent here, both researching before I made my purchases, and reading through many old posts, my whole experience has been relatively painless. I knew when I got the firmware updater and the memory card that I needed to be in MSC mode, even though I wasn't 100% sure what it was at the time, and I've had only one brief hiccup with the player. The moderators, administrators, editors, even many of the members seem quite knowledgeable and helpful, so thanks to all

help!

My Fuze is frozen...truly frozen. Screen is on, on pause track152/552, and I can't do anything. I was listening to it, decided it would be cool to put some pictures on it, so I downloaded the Sansa Media Converter. The installation seemed fine. I paused the Fuze, pulled the headphone jack out, plugged in the USB....and nothing else would happen. "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it" I click the box and..."Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize the device, replace the device" Any ideas? I'm running XP Pro version 2002 service pack 3, if that helps. Any help would be appreciated

Amplifying Music Using Audacity

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. You can learn more and download Audacity here This open-source program includes audio recording tools and sophisticated editing functions. You can even create audio soundscapes from scratch. You can add any of several dozen effects, use a sound mixer...in short, the app has everything you might need. While you don't have to be well-versed in sound editing to use it, people with some experience will particularly enjoy its power. One of the things it does is allow me to amplify and normalize my music to enhance my Sansa listening. I will be doing a complete video walkthrough of the program soon but in the mean time this should get you started. Click the image above to begin the step-by step tutorial After you've completed your Amplification, play through the song, and make sure it meets your expectations. Amplify will edit the entire song unless you select a section specifically. Once you're happy with...

Apple Quietly Updates iPod shuffle - Kinda

This wasn't announced during the Let's Rock / Let's Whimper event late night, but Apple has quietly updated the iPod shuffle... So what has exactly happened? Well, if you go to the Apple Store you'll see 'NEW' in capital letters stamped all over them but it really should just say 'Respray'. Yup, while rivals such as the Sansa Clip and ZEN Stone Plus sport screens and feature such revolutionary ideas as song selection and sequential play, not to mention double the capacity ( 4x in the case of the Clip ) for less money Apple has decided what they were lacking was more colours. Consequently you can get the same screen-less, FM tuner-less, voice recording-less, sequential play-less, 1GB and 'flagship' 2GB players now in blue, green, pink and - in an Apple store only exclusive - (PRODUCT) red. Wow. Prices remain £32 and £45 respectively and with the new 8GB iPod nano starting at £109 the company really does need to rethink its budget player offering... In related news , fiscally sharp TR readers have pointed out to us...

How to combine MPG video files the easy way

I had this case come up just recently. I needed to decompile a dvd that I wanted to watch using my thumb drive. Unfortunately my thumb drive is only 2.0 Gigs and the movie was over 4 gigs. There are several ways to copy a DVD to your computer and I won't get into how to do this now. But I needed to copy it to my thumb drive in the original VOB structure that the DVD uses instead of one large file. If you are familiar with DVDs and their layout you will know that they usually breakdown the movie into about 1 Gig VOB files. At the end of the day after doing the decompiling I had all the original VOB files on my computer and , if you didn't know it , a VOB file is the same exact thing as a MPG file just with a different extension. So to "turn" them into MPGs I simply renamed each one of the VOB files to an extension of MPG. Now I had the MPG files I...

HELP - Music Playback Problem

Hi all, I have quite a few music files loaded onto my Sansa. I have never had any problems with the music files or playback until recently. Now, when I play ANY of my music files, I can hear the instrumental in the background crystal clear, but the vocals sound extremely muffled and scratchy. I can't figure out why for the life of me. Could it be an issue regarding my settings, or does it sound more like a hardware or software issue? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
