[CLIP+] Safely Disconnect from USB?

Hi, I purchased a Sansa CLIP+ 2GB (Black) and it works perfectly with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Whenever I connect it via the provided USB cable to my computer, I am able to load files onto the player, delete them, etc. Everything functions normal. My only issue thus far is this: when it's time I remove the player from the USB, I can't see the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon down at the programs bar (I am a windows user). By connecting another USB device as the CLIP+ is connected, I am able to get that program to open up, but it doesn't list the CLIP+. Now, this forces me to disconnect the CLIP+ by physically pulling it out from the USB cable without first disabling it completely, something which I know is a bad habit that may potentially harm the player to the point where it is no longer usable and needs to be replaced. How can I safely Remove the CLIP+ from within the OS first? Here's a pic: Thanks, N.

Locking the buttons

I tried to find this on the site but couldn't, so I apologize for any redudancy. I was listening to my 4g clip today and had the random shutdown/play dead thing happen. I think that I must have figured out the "soft reset" and was on my way. Then when I went to change the playlist on the unit I was surprised to find the "lock" on. Funny thing is that I love everything about this player (mostly the micro SD card expandibility), and will never go back to the iPod with it's proprietary BS, however I have often wondered why they didn't put a "lock" function on the unit. I thought I read the directions (sort of). I no longer have them because I threw them in the recycling bin the minute I started loading up the Jonas Brothers playlists. Does anyone know how to lock the buttons and is it something any moron could have found on the site?

I recently deleted a couple of albums of my reasonably new (bought less than a month ago) clip and when I disconnected the familier refreshing your media screen appeared but didn't go away and has not since. I have tried a couple of things to try and get it going again from rebooting the thing to updating its firmware and deleting what I believe to be its cache however nothing seems to be doing the trick. It is still possible to connect it to a computer and was wondering if there was a way of formatting it from here as I cannot access its own OS. Any help greatly appreciated.

My Clip says when it's turned on that I need to delete 30 M of files so that it can build the Music DB, but when I plug it into my computer, it does not mount. That is, I cannot see it as a mounted volume on either the desktop or sidebar of my computer, no matter how long I wait. In fact, when I plug it into my computer, my computer hangs, and I have to do a hard reboot of my computer (!) which has happened about 5 times. My computer hangs whether or not I leave the Clip plugged in or if I unplug it. When the clip is plugged into my first USB port, it says Connected and shows that graphic, but Mac Disk Utility does not see it. When the clip is plugged into my second USB port (both on my computer), it shows the error message about building Music DB, and then it turns off, with no Connected graphic. I have a 2+ year old Clip 2G that has always worked well. This morning, it was hanging saying database rebuilding, so I updated the firmware to most recent version because that was proposed as...

See my response for a better format please. I tried reformatting this and it ain't working. I have some real problems with my Sansa Clip. I tried to update the firmware for starters. So I finally found where all those firmware files are at because I have Ubuntu. [ http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22669 ] I know I had a version "01", I believe it was xx.xx.18a and I tried installing a version "01" but after the update it now says it's version "02", or to be exact version 02.01.13a. These are the files I downloaded on 6/07/10: Clip01.01.29a.zip Clip01.01.35a.zip How it got to version "02", I've no idea, but I just decided to not worry about it and leave things as they may because I could still play anything I wanted .... until now. My entire system has frozen and I can't play anything. I can see the songs on there but when I try to play anything it's in permanent pause mode. The Sansa Clip I got was from Walmart a few years back. It has some teeny, tiny numbers underneath it at the bottom if that can help anyone figuring out my exact model or something. Also, should I try to...

A few weeks ago I updated the fuze, and it has worked since then, I believe but I am not sure if I have plugged in the usb. I tried the usb connection on my friends computer, it worked fine. When I plug it into my dell I hear it make a connection sound, but it doesn't show up in my computer. Thank you so much for any replies

Finally actually managed to set up/load a NetLibrary book- mp3- using their Download Manager which puts files straight onto Clip+...so it's not in WMP to check if it plays there. I was beyond thrilled to have actually gotten the book to the clip, but when I select it nothing actually plays, or at least I can't hear it. Sound works fine on the radio and the weird songs (do I assume they were pre-loaded by Sandisk and that they're not evidence of a prior owner?). I did search for and read at least one other post I thought was dealing with my issue, but I either don't understand the ?s or the answers: one said "you have to use MTP mode (huh?) and sync the content using WMP"...don't know what MTP mode is and NetBooks Download Manager gave choice to load to WMP or device...I chose straight to Clip thinking there was less opportunity for me to get confused and screw something up. I've not yet tried to get music moved to Clip from very 1st CDs I ripped onto WMP, so lord help me. I

Upon purchasing an 8g Fuze, I used the Sansa Updater to ensure that I had the most recent firmware. (5/28/10) There no longer is an Audiobook section visible on the screen. I have repeatedly scrolled through all the options using the wheel....No Audiobook. The settings section does include audiobook as an option. Does anyone have any suggestions what happened or how I can get the Audiobook back? (Related, even though the Fuze is listed as Audible ready, when I transferred an Audible book over, it is not visible to play. I can see (using Windows Explorer and Audible manager) that the transfer was successful. )

I have been looking at the sansa view 16. I have the 260R for my music and love it, but I would like something to download and carry movies and old tv shows on. If I purchased the view, that is what it would be for as my 260R is great for what it does. The only other thing out there that looked possible was the Zune120, but it is quite a bit more and doesn't take memory cards. Do any of you use the view for movies/tv and if so, what is your opinion of the device? Should I get the 16 or the 32? TIA----Denise
