How to Extract Audio from DVD and VCD

Exact Audio Copy is a so called audio grabber for audio CDs using standard CD and DVD-ROM drives. The main differences between EAC and most other audio grabbers are: It is free (for non-commercial purposes) It works with a technology, which reads audio CDs almost perfectly. If there are any errors that can’t be corrected, it will tell you on which time position the (possible) distortion occurred, so you could easily control it with e.g. the media player With other audio grabbers you usually need to listen to every grabbed wave because they only do jitter correction. Scratched CDs read on CD-ROM drives often produce distortions. But listening to every extracted audio track is a waste of time. Exact Audio Copy conquer these problems by making use of several technologies like multi-reading with verify and Accurate Rip. Tips: Download an external encoder for the audio format you wish to use. Rarewares is an excellent web site to find external encoders for audio formats.
Online Backup for Flash Drives

SanDisk has unveiled the Cruzer Titanium Plus USB flash drive, which makes easier to back up data. This 4GB drive Features includes: - Automatic online backup - Compatible with Windows Vista, XP and Windows 2000 The user can simply plug in the USB drive and copy files to it. Then the files are automatically backed up to a password protected online account, managed by BeInSync. Data will be backed-up (on Amazon’s S3 web servers) quickly once the PC connected to the internet, or the back-up process will be activated when the PC is online for the next time. Mode of Service: The drive comes with 6 months of service included, but users will then have to pay $30 a year for the online backup to continue. Storage: "SanDisk is offering an appealing package for consumers by marrying both online and offline storage into one easy and intuitive device, letting users take their files everywhere with less worry about data loss," said Motti Vaknin, CEO of BeInSync . Extra Features: - Crush-resistant metal case - Optional password protection - AES hardware data encryption The drive is supposed to be available in the USA in March 2008, priced at $59.99.

Micro SD 2GB Card

Bought my first memory card for my 2GB SanDisk. Do I have to format the card? Neither the SanDisk nor my XP PC will recognize the additional memory. Yes, I checked the remaining capacity of the SanDisk when it was not connected to the PC. Yes, I put the card in correctly. There's no other way to put it in. Do I have to format the card or tell the SanDisk something? Help!

Flash Memory might replace the hard drive?

I knew this kind of thing would happen *someday*, but this soon? I'm kinda shocked. Although I guess now that you can buy a 16GB compact flash or SD card for $125 to $200 ( check out NewEgg ), how far can we really be from laptops enabled with these things. I mean, there are a lot of people out there that just don't need 100GB on their laptop ... especially when they have an additional 4-8GB in their Sansa Connect for their music. Thoughts? Would you buy a laptop that had only 16GB of disk space, but was *blazing fast* (flash memory is way faster than the best hard drive) and ultra tiny? And keep in mind that flash memory won't stay *tiny* (in size) by comparizon. Back in January, SanDisk announced 128GB flash drives, and check out this article on "the future of flash memory" - the 1 TB (yes, you heard me) flash drive. And even this was end of last year. It's only a matter of time, I guess.

SanDisk Express Line flash memory

SanDisk recently launched the "SanDisk Express Line" of high-performance flash memory products, based on the ExpressCard technology standard, designed for pro camcorders, and targeting professional photographers and videographers. The SanDisk ExpressCard is expected to be available in November, in 8- and 16GB capacities. Recording time for high-definition video capture, at 35 megabits per second, would be approximately 30 minutes on the 8GB card and 60 minutes on the 16GB card.
