Hullo. While I'm no newbie when it comes to technology or mp3 players, I wouldn't exactly call myself an advanced user, either. I just received my e270 - put it in the proper USB mode, updated the firmware, etc. I use Windows Media Player for syncing to my devices. I'm able to browse the contents/library of all my devices except the Sansa - it shows there are no files or artists on it, although I know there are - I can see and play my hundreds of songs on disconnection. I synced a large playlist (~5GB), trhings looked fine, and it appears to have transferred to the device, and I can play them. HOWEVER: I can't view the songs/artists etc from WMP. It states "there are no files on this device". I'd like to delete some songs from the device and sync new ones to it from WMP. Shouldn't I be able to browse the device from WMP?

Assembly Drawings?

I am looking for technical repair manuals, or assembly drawings for a sansa e260. The problem I am trying to fix is a bad connection in the headphone jack (one channel cuts in and out depending on how you hold the chord). After trying many different ear phones, I decided the best way to go about this was to open it up, (yes, the entire device to and get to the jack) and bend the contact out to make better connection. The trouble is that I got the battery cover off, removed 4 more screws, and couldn't figure out how to get any further for fear of breaking it. Any Ideas?

Unable to see my Sandisk 4GB memory card on Windows XP

Hi, I'm one of the new greenhorns to this forum and I recently bought the Sansa e260 (which is a great little player!) I implanted a Sandisk memory card into the the expansion slot and loaded files to it (as well as filliling the 4GB internal memory. But now when I connect via the USB to Windows XP (SP2) I can only open the internal memory. Windows doesn't seem to see the memory card. I keep getting a message to "Please insert a disc into Drive", etc.. I must be missing something here because I should be able to see both memories as separate drives, shouldn't I? I set the internal memory to MSC and I believe that I also did so for the memory card. The only work-around that I can think of is to stick the card into a card reader and work my files from that configuration but I should be able to see it while its in the Sansa---I think. Are there any kind souls out there that can offer a fix, or even some sage advice? Thank you for any help that you may offer! Fred

I bought an e280fm (v2) some time ago which I almost only use for listening to mp3s and radio. Last week I tried to load a video (unprotected DVD) to the player. SMC converted the video but unfortunately video and sound are played asynchronously and the 'gap' between both grows each minute. At the end of the 50 minute film sound is played about five seconds after the corresponding pictures. Very annoying if you see and hear different people talking at the same time :( Besides: I tried to solve the problem by converting the video to *.avi, *.mp4, *.mov and so on - but that too didn't help (though the converted files were played fine in VLC, Quicktime and so on.

I recently inherited a Sansa e250 from my girlfriend, who replaced that player with a pink Sansa Clip. Methinks this might be a great player to take to the gym with me :) However, she has misplaced the power cord, and it appears to be a proprietary connector rather than a mini-USB. Bummer. Anyone out there have any recommendations on where I could find a power cord/connector for this player on the cheap? Maybe a cord to another non-Sansa device would work?

How to format an e200

Turn player off. Slide HOLD button to the locked position towards headphone jack. Press and hold the RECORD button while connecting to the computer. Release RECORD button once you see "Welcome to Recovery Mode" on the player's LCD. You are now connected to the computer in recovery mode. Open My Computer and you will see a new removable drive named 16MB-FORMAT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORMAT THE 16MB-FORMAT VOLUME!! Open the 16MB-FORMAT drive and create a new folder in it named sansa.fmt. Unplug the cable from the player. It should say "Formatting..." somewhere on the player's LCD screen, and then "Format complete." when done. Here is what is happening. When the player detects you have disconnected from the computer it will check for a file or folder named sansa.fmt in its root directory. If it finds that file or folder it will format itself. You are telling the player to format itself. Do not try to do the format the player yourself via recovery mode because doing so will cause more problems that will be far more difficult to repair.

I accidentally loaded all of my songs to my E280 in MTP mode, and I wanted to reload them in MSC mode. I took off about 90 out of almost 700 songs and reloaded them in MSC mode, which worked. But when I plugged the player back in on MTP mode, there's nothing in the MUSIC folder when I click on it. Now only the preloaded songs plus the 90 I put on are on the player, but the player still says I have the same amount of space being used (about 4 GB of music). Why can't I see the files that were put on in MTP? Have I lost them or is there a way to get them back? I have the "show hidden files" option checked, so I really don't know what the problem is. edit: It looks like all the files are in the SYSTEM/MTPCONTENT folder when I'm in MSC mode, but they're all .DAT files that I have no idea what to do with. Any solutions? Thanks.

If I fully charge it, the next day (turned off) will show it about 25% charged. I can listen to it for about an hour before it runs out of power. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I toss it out?

1. When attempting to run the updater, a message pops up telling me I have no internet connection and I need to fix the problem. Obviously I do have an internet connection since I am using it right now to start this thread. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. 2. After opening the Sansa Media Converter, a message in the upper left corner tells me there is no available player. Again, the player is connected to the USB port with the supplied cable. I have tried all USB modes. I have also tried unistalling and reinstalling the software. There is no apparent way to force the software to find the player. Basically all I can use my player for is playing MP3 files which it does very well, but no pictures and no video can be viewed. You see how limiting and frustrating this is? I remember once a while ago having converted videos for the player (probably with another program) but it wouldn't find them. Windows explorer showed they were there but Sansa didn't see them. I also had pics in JPEG format but got a message that they were the wrong format. I seem to remember...
