Help! Weirdness with Sansa Clip 2gb

Okay, so I recently got a Sansa Clip 2 gb. I synched it with my laptop a bunch, which runs on linux, and just did it in the nautilus file browser. No problems, except some of my songs skipped as though transferred incorrectly. I was going to put some more on today, and suddenly it wasn't recognized. There was no response in any mode, on my linux laptop or my XP machine. When I plug it in, it starts charging, but that's it. The MP3 player turns on when I plug it in. I tried it in all three modes (firmware 01.01.29A, has auto, MTP and MSC), and nothing on either system. So I formatted using the SanDisk's menu setting. Now it still isn't recognized and it has no songs on it. It turns on fine, and as far as it's concerned, it's working fine but songless. I know my usb ports and cable works fine, but I tested other cables and ports just to be sure. It's not recognized in Ubuntu or XP, at all, and the SansaDisk firmware utility thing won't completely install because I can't get past the step where you plug in your SanDisk, since it's...

In case you missed it.... Sandisk released a revamped and upgraded version of the Sansa Clip MP3 player. Now with 8 GB capacity and 15 hours of battery life. I have a 4GB clip and have never had storage problems. I guess if you had tons of music and wanted to use the Clip as a backup it might be handy. What do you guys think?

Wow, it seems like an entire forum of people who don't have any issues with their players. The other sansa forum has issues galore. I'll post this anyway, in hopes that someone who needs it will stumble across it. I bought a Sansa Clip 1 GB (Balck) and plugged it into my computer Windows XP SP3, WMP11 integrated. In MTP mode windows wants to install it but there's "volume label syntax error" and "install cannot be completed". In MSC mode I kept getting the chime that you get when you plug in a USB device, then I get the one you get when you unplug a USB device, over and over again - connected/disconnected... Went through tech support and forums and found no real help. Though Sansa tech support was real nice and they did try. They just went through all the steps that were in the forums that didn't seem to be working. I especially like the "Update your firmware" suggestion. I guess that'd be something to do if I ever got my computer to recognize it... I tried all USB modes on the device, flipped all the switches and pressed buttons. I downloaded an MTP porting kit from...

What is the Audiobooks Folder for? I download audiobooks from the library using OverDrive Media Console and for the life of me I cannot get my ebooks into this folder. The folders mystify me anyway. I would like to set up folder for my many books but that doesn't seem possible. I've tried it in WMA and from My Computer directly into Sansa. But when I download a book it just goes into Songs. Can anyone help?

8GB Sansa Clip Coming Soon?

The Sansa Clip has sold beyond all expectations and SanDisk's willingness to listen to users when it comes to adding features have made it a really good choice for an MP3 player. The one gripe people have had with it is lack of storage as even though it has a bigger brother (the Fuze) capable of both 8GB capacities and microSD expansion, the Clip itself has maxed out at 4GB...until now. A French store selling all versions of the Clip has a posting of a 8GB clip available in both black and silver like the 4GB version. It's currently listed as a pre-order with unknown release date for the black version and a September 30th release date for the silver version, which happens to be tomorrow. While it's unlikely it will come out tomorrow it does appear to be legit; the price of about 90 Euro is far higher than that of the 65 Euro 4GB version and so it's doubtful it's a typo. If it turns out to be true this should make a lot of people happy, me included. Materiel.net

My girlfriend really loves her Sansa Clip. Since all of her music is in my library and in my iPod, we usually transfer music to her clip via my Mac simply by dragging files to it in the Finder. The recent firmware update solved the "DS.Store" issue, which made both of us happy, and she has been having great luck with the player. That being said, she really wants to make some workout playlists. Since I'm used to creating playlists in iTunes, I'm not really familiar with how to create playlists for the Sansa. Can you do it manually via the player? Or is there some other way that I can do it, given that the player is not really "synced?" She's been asking me a lot lately, so it's about time I found her an answer :)

Actually, I bought the iPod, and I got my wife the Clip -- after playing with hers....(clip!).... I took the ipod back! However, http://www.sandisk.com/sansa/ states that the clip has an expansion slot for a MicrSD card.... i don't see it anywhere! Is this an error? In addition - the site also says that the firmware is updateable for this model -- can anyone confirm that? Thanks in advance, Matt!!!

Just purchased a 2GB Sansa Clip in the U.S. for use in Canada. Cannot use the Rhapsody subscription software in Canada, so will use Napster instead. However, Napster tells me that "your Sansa Clip 2Gb needs to be reformatted because your digital rights management software has become corrupted" I have formatted the Sansa Clip, which has deleted the few sample songs which came with the Sansa Clip, but still get the message when I try to sync with Napster. Anybody any ideas where I go from here?
