Avoiding Stalled Downloads

Hi Sansa Community: Matt wrote me and encouraged me to share helpful information with the group. So, here's how I cured the dreaded "Stalled Download" when downloading audiobooks from my library. It was so easy! After trying lots of other options, I simply increased the Virtual Memory in my computer. Go to My Computer, View System Information under System Tasks, and choose the Advanced tab, Performance tab, and Advanced tab. Then choose Virtual Memory and increase the amount allocated. I re-set mine to 4000 initial, 9000 maximum. After I did that, I was able to download and transfer an audiobook to my Sansa Clip Plus with no problem. I hope this helps someone.
skip (jump) back and forth a few seconds?

I've a number of old mp3 players which are getting a bit long in the tooth so I'm looking for a replacement. I use the players for language study and need an option to jump back or forth (usually just back!) 3,4 or 5 secs to repeat a section just once. ( This is sometimes achieved with a touch on the rewind button but many players can't provide a specific interval). Also when a section requires repeated listenings then an A-B type loop (down to a min of, say, 3 secs) is essential. Can I do this with the clip player? Thanks for any insights (or even suggestions for cheap players which fit the bill - I don't need mp4 or any visual media options - just mp3).

My wife listens to motivation CDs when she goes to bed. She depends on the CD player turning off when it reaches the end of the tape. You can hardly find a CD player these days and the MP3 player would be a lot more convienent. While it is easy to convert the CD to an MP3, I haven't found anyway to turn off the SANSA FUZE when it reaches the end of the song. We have also tried the same thng with the Clip. Is there any way to accomplish the same effect as the CD player? Is there a way to just play the one song and then shutting off the MP3 player? If the Sansa will not, do you know of a MP3 player that will turn off after one song?

OK, I'm new at this, but it CAN'T BE THIS DIFFICULT............. I have an audiobook on CD(s). In Windows Media Player it showed up as "Unknown Author", "Unknown Title", "Unknown Genre", etc. I edited the Title, Author, and TRIED to guess at the genre.... Ripped it. File is sitting on the hard drive, with 97, yes NINETY-SEVEN mp3 tracks just from the first CD. First question: WHY is everything unknown, and how do I get it to be recognized by Windows Media Player? AND, how do I consolidate all these ridiculous tracks into a single mp3 file for the whole CD? Tried putting it on the Sansa Fuze. Put it in Podcast. It doesn't know it's an audio book. The tracks are sorted alphabetically instead of numerically - so it plays track 1, then 10, then 11, and so on, then eventually 2, 20, 21, etc..... Second question: HOW do I get this to put the tracks in the right order? So, I rummaged around the Internet and found a discussion that said an audiobook that's mp3 format should just be loaded as music. So, I formatted the memory and reloaded..... In "Music", it THINKS it should shuffle, and wants...

I was able to use a Clip in my car for a while, but it stopped working. ( See this thread ) Now I'm looking for a new player. I have a USB charger from the car's Accessory power, and an audio input to the car stereo system with a 3.5mm plug. I want a player that will turn itself on when DC power is applied by a USB charger and go into play mode. When DC power is turned off, I would like it to shut down. The next time power is applied, it should pick up playing again from where it was when it shut down. I want to get an inexpensive player so it won't be a target for theft, and because the automotive environment is tough. Any suggestions?

Okay so I was being a good new sansa user and well I figured "Hey, it would be nice if I knew the name of the song that I recorded off the radio" well my computer doesn't pull up window's media instantly. so well I went to my computer and to the file and changed the song names. now I was like "Okay it's going to be so cool I outsmarted my sansa ahahah" well it ended up outsmarting me (which is really sad) my sansa now locks up every time I go to listen to my radio recorded songs. and I don' know why. is there a way that I can fix that? a very bad new Sansa user
[Read more]

How to convert DRM protected music and movies to MP4/AVI/MOV/MP3/WMV/AAC...

Many people ask me the same question: "I purchased videos on iTunes, but I can't play them on my video player, because they are in some 'protected' M4V format that only works on iPods. How can I convert iTunes videos to MPEG or WMV format so I can play them on My portable video device such as Archos and Creative Zen?" I searched on Google, Yahoo answers and post the question on large number of forums, unfortunately, after scouring the Web for days, I couldn't find a FREE way to convert M4V to MPEG, WMV or AVI format. Then I tried to burn the iTunes video onto a DVD and re-import it into iTunes just like how to remove the protection from the iTunes audios (M4P) by burning it onto a CD and re-import it as mp3. I failed, cause iTunes doesnt have a DVD burning option, then I used Nero, but it still doesnt work as Nero doesnt supports M4V format. And finally, a software solution. I came across a few kinds of converters on Google search, they are Tunebite, Daniusoft and Noteburner. When I was testing the free trials one by one, what makes me comfortable is the...

Playing specific albums

I am new to mp3 stuff. I just created a playlist in media player and synced it with my sansa view, thinking that it would automatically save it in sansa's "playlist" on the menu. Then I could play just the albums in the playlist file and not everything on the sansa. I do not see the playlist file in the playlist section of the menu. All the songs are there scattered throughout the memory. How do I put a group of albumns in one file on the sansa so I can listen to that group only? I ride a bike and can't be fiddling with the mp3 controls once I'm on the road. Thanks
[Read more]
