Hi, I just got an 8GB Sansa View yesterday and I'm having problems trying to convert video with the Sansa Media Converter. Basically, after I've selected a video to convert, I click the convert button and the progress window pops up, followed a few seconds after by a window saying: Sansa Media Converter.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I've tried converting about 20 different videos of various formats and that's always what happens, MP3s and pictures however convert fine. I'm using SMC firmware version 1.0 B004.236CDG, and just a few minutes ago I used Sansa Updater to get the latest Sansa View firmware. I have a PC using Windows XP Service pack 2. Thanks in advance.

I've recently began using WMP. After an attempt to sync with my View, when powering on my View, the unit hangs on the "refresh cycle". If I hold the power switch for a few seconds to the on/off position, the unit completes the refresh and the unit acts normal. Any ideas?

Hi Guys, For those of you who find this usefull, your welcome Firmware 01.02.06a Firmware 01.02.09 Firmware 01.03.02 I personally like the 09. However the last update adds USB Mode allowing MSC and Auto Detect as an option. I think it should have been MSC and MTP and Auto Detect, but we all know the SanDisk programmers are just so on top of things. pCe Lj

I have several movies and much music loaded on my View. Is there a method to create a mirror image of the View memory on my PC so I can restore the device in case of failure? That is with a few simple steps w/o having to jump through hoops. Secondly, I've used Real Player for the last couple of years and it worked well for me. My usage was erratic, that is I'd download a few songs then would not use the service for several weeks in a row. Recently my good old Real Player "magically went away", replaced by Rapsody in order to squeeze more money out of me. Is there a "free" version of the product that actually works without the constant bombardment of their upgrade "horse hockey"? Currently I've removed Real Player/Rapsody from my laptop and I'm using WMP. Thank you

View FAQ's

Q: When I connect my View to my computer, it isn't recognized.. what do i do? A: 1st: make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. 2nd: Check the device manager (if this is a windows PC), if the View shows up with a "!" mark, right-click on the driver, and select Uninstall. Then disconnect the View and re-connect it. If that fails, right-click and select update driver 3rd: If that fails, try downloading the MTP Porting Kit from Microsoft.com (XP) or download the KB940199 (Vista) 4th: If all the above fail, either force the player into MSC Mode (hold switch and press and hold the left or rewind button) and connect to the computer (done while the View is on). Or if you have the latest firmware (01.03.02), go into System Settings, and select USB Mode, and change it to MSC and connect it. If the player isn't recognized after all that, in either MTP or MSC mode (Autodetect is MTP BTW), try it on another computer. If it's recognized on another computer, then it's a Computer issue, and you'll want to contact your OEM or Microsoft. If it ISN'T recognized, then it's the View, at which point...

In order to use the MSC mode, on the Sansa View, the following will need to be done... 1. Make sure the Sansa View is turned on. 2. Engage the hold switch, located on the left-hand side of the player. 3. Press and hold the LEFT BUTTON ( << ) 4. Connect to the computer while pressing and holding the LEFT BUTTON ( << ) 5. The Sansa View should now be connected in MSC mode and should appear as a "Removable Disk

Does Anyone know if the cable NORMALLY used to connect an IPOD to the computer to charge/connect is compatable with the Sansa View? I am only getting about 5-6 hours of music playing time and that JUST music not watching video, just turning on music and then sticking it into a backpack. Needless to say its frustring to be listing to a audiobook and have it stop playing 4 hours into my workday and being in a truck without a cigerret light to plug the car chager into means my listening time is over until I can get home. I Want to buy a portable charger but am scared to waste money on a ipod emergency charge if its not compatible with my View and then even possible risk frying my View. Thanks

It would turn off on it's own and would not turn on when I wanted it to. Then, after about a month, it would'nt play any of the songs I downloaded from Rhapsody, which was apart of the deal when the Sansa was bought. Can someone provide me with a help line or some kind of information to help me with my problem? Thanks I appreciate it.
